Mobile Legends is Banned in the US: How to Play Again (Moonton-Approved Official Method)
In the very morning of 1/19/2025, MLBB players across the US has woken up to their worst nightmare, the stuff that’s only found in the abyss when you stare at it: Mobile Legends game has been banned in the USA.
As ByteDance the owner of TikTok, is now blocked in the USA, MLBB becomes the collateral damage that got caught in the crossfire. Since they are sister companies, MLBB becomes guity in association. So for now, US players can temporarily say goodbye to this beloved game that has been the greatest love-hate relationship in their life. After all those unfair match making battles, late night AFKers only in your team, and countless feeders, you are now free. You have escaped hell. Fly faraway as you can, fools. I bet that’s what Pharsa would probably do if she isn’t blind.
But then again, gamers are made of the ingredients of stubborness and a hint of BSDM as well, so eventually we will find out way back to the pain just to enjoy another round of AFKers. So if you are a part of that percentile, without further ado let’s get this done quickly so we can 1 vs. 9 again.
I – EASIEST METHOD: GearUp Booster
There is VPN, and then there is VPN that’s catered to the gaming niche. And GearUp Booster is what you will need.
Kudos to GearUp comes in clutch in this dire situation and provides us with a free (yiss!) and simple configuration to play Mobile Legends once again. If you are still on the fence whether this approach is frown upon by Moonton and might get your account banned, here’s the official statement by GearUp social media account:
TL;DR if you are in the US with a US phone number OR have a US ip address, you are ok to use GearUp to access Mobile Legends. It’s a collaboration work between Moonton and GearUp. No punishments to US-based players whatsoever.
Step 1: Download and install the app for your iOs or Android using this link.
Step 2: Launch the app. If Mobile Legends is found on your phone, you will see the option to “Boost” it.
If MLBB isn’t on your phone, you may want to find out why you downloaded this app for. In the Server Region selection, choose your closest server to your location. Click Boost and wait for the app to find the most optimal server and route for your connection. It shouldn’t take very long.
You will need to give GearUp permission to install a VPN tunnel profile on your phone as a piggy-back connection on your existing internet.
Step 3: Mobile Legends game will be launched shortly for you and voila, you are back in for more misery haha. But I wish you the best of luck for not falling back to Epic. Welcome back to Land of Dawn!
Hint: If you find the game is a bit too laggy, once you are in the game, switch back to GearUp app and click Stop Boosting. You will still be able to play and in some case, perhaps it might be with better latency.
